Silver Stream Bison Farm

Craven, Saskatchewan Since 2007

Canadian-owned Made in Canada

About

Silver Stream Bison Farm has raised bison since 2007 in the rolling hills of the Qu'Appelle Valley, near Craven, SK. We practise the "whole herd" concept, leaving the bison and the offspring together as nature intended. We have minimal contact with the bison, no hormone/antibiotic injections, grass/hay fed with no cereal grains/gluten and minimal handling. They drink water from a stream that runs through our hills, eat grass, leaves and sedges that grow on the land and get minerals from special high copper, high selenium mineral licks as well as a supplemental protein/mineral/vitamin pellet made locally. We use minimal stress to humanely harvest the bison out in the fields where they are comfortable, resulting in more tender, flavour full meat. The carcass is processed in a local, provincially inspected meat shop which makes a variety of cuts, ground, stew meat and value added artisan spiced sausages and snack sticks (all gluten/lactose/MSG/GMO free). Bison meat is one of the healthiest meats one can buy, low in fat/calories/cholesterol and high in protein, selenium, and Omega 3 fatty acids (think of the nutrition value of salmon in a red meat, but lower in calories, cholesterol and price).
